Buttery, apple like flavors with hints of honey, vanilla, and oak highlight this Chardonnay. Full-bodied with a lingering creamy finish allow this to pair well with oysters, chicken and veal. Certified Sustainable.

The Wente family is widely regarded as California’s First Family of Chardonnay. In 1912, 2nd Generation Winegrower, Ernest Wente, convinced his father and founder, C.H. Wente, to import Chardonnay cuttings from the vine nursery at University of Montpellier in France to the Livermore Valley. Today, roughly 75% of all California Chardonnay is derived from the Wente Clone. 5th Generation Winemaker, Karl D. Wente, continues to carry on the family’s legacy of Chardonnay with four different styles of the wine.

Blending traditional and innovative winemaking practices, the winery draws from certified sustainable estate vineyards in the Livermore Valley and Arroyo Seco, Monterey appellations to create an outstanding portfolio of fine wines. With an east-west valley orientation, the Livermore Valley has an ideal climate for viticulture; warm days and cool nights that are influenced by fog and breezes from the Pacific Ocean and the San Francisco Bay. The Arroyo Seco appellation has one of the longest growing seasons in California, enabling the grapes to retain their natural acidity and intense varietal character. The slightly cooler coastal climate and distinct gravelly soils of Arroyo Seco help produce beautifully balanced wines.

The winery’s Estate Grown wines are named after the unique growing conditions of the vineyards in which they are sourced. Their Single Vineyard wines are named for the specific vineyard blocks in the winery’s premier estate vineyards. Also available at the winery are limited production wines and the nth Degree wines, which highlight the craftmanship involved in hands-on winemaking.
