In association with Prime Wine
When we think Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we tend to think red, but this Rhone Valley appellation, located around the village of the same name, produces some
outstanding white wines which make up just 6% to 7% of the total production.
It is therefore quite a rare wine to find on a wine list or indeed in a supermarket but the Pingo Doce supermarkets in Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago both stock this excellent example costing €27.89.
The wine is made by Famille Révoltier, one of the oldest producers in the area and is an organic blend of Clairette Blanc and Grenache Blanc, fermented and aged on the fine lees in stainless steel.
In the glass the wine is a pale yellow colour and opens with a bouquet of honey and acacia flowers with notes of apricots, peaches, anise and sweet spices.
