Balthasar Ress wanted to be a host – that’s how it all began in 1870. A courageous and capable young man named Balthasar, a trained butcher, founded the Guesthouse Ress in Hattenheim, laying the foundation not only for a long gastronomic tradition and hospitality in the Rheingau, but also for today’s VDP wine estate Balthasar Ress. Since that time, the Ress family has lived in the tradition of being good hosts and creating fine moments with fine wines.
