In the middle of a mountainous enclave, between the massifs of the Serra da Estrela and Açor, the Serra do Caramulo and Buçaco, and the Serra da Nave, which protect the vineyards from the maritime air mass of the Atlantic and the harsh winds of Spain. Marked by the confluence of rivers, and by the climate, with rainy winters and dry, hot summers, Dão is an exceptional territory, with granite soils with some sandy notes, which guarantee slow and cool maturation.
With unique soil and climate conditions, this wine region creates different micro-terroirs that result in great wines with a profile full of character and firmness, ruled by freshness and fashion. In 1908 it was officially established as the Dão Demarcated Region.
