The Marta family is one of these families, whose history dates back to the first quarter of the 18th century, specifically to the year 1727.

Being one of the oldest families in the Douro, he dedicated himself for several generations to the cultivation of grapes and later sale to the exporting houses. The production of the so-called “fine wine” began at the beginning of the 19th century. XX, being also sold in barrels for the companies of V.N. Gaia, it was in 1956 that Port Wine was bottled for the first time with his name. The following generations began to dedicate themselves totally to the wine business, always attentive to the quality and distinction of the product. The current generations at the head of the company take another decisive step by expanding and consolidating the family business internationally. The entire process has always been developed by the family, from growing the grapes to production and bottling, offering today a wide selection of Port, Douro and spirits wines.

The Marta family currently owns properties in the municipality of Santa Marta de Penaguião, and the diverse area of ​​these vineyards allows for the planting of noble varieties, such as: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela and Tinta Roriz. , Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Donzelinho, Gouveio, Códega do Larinho, Arinto, Rabigato, Moscatel Galego, among others.
