The 2018 vintage is, without a doubt, an unusual vintage, characterised by a strong contrast between a late and cool winter and the driest summer on record since 1945. This vintage shows high natural sugar levels and great aromatic richness, reminiscent of the 2009 and 2015 vintages. The Sauvignon is at its best, mouthwatering and with an extraordinary aromatic character.

THE HARVEST
The low temperatures at the beginning of the winter lengthened the dormancy period. The high rainfall (around 600mm) at the end of the winter and in early spring raised the water table, which proved beneficial later on in the season. During the early budburst, mild and cool temperatures alternated, leading to flowering in early June in very good, dry conditions. We could already foresee an early harvest at that stage.
The weather radically changed in mid June and the summer, with bright sunshine and higher than average temperatures for the season, settled in until the harvest. The vine flourished thanks to the high reserves of water accumulated during the winter.
Once again we were the first to start harvesting, on 3rd September. As is now customary at Château de Tracy, we went through the rows of vines 5 times to ensure that all the grapes were picked at optimum maturity.
The exceptionally sunny September enabled us to organise our harvesting programme as we wished, doing most of the picking early in the morning in cooler temperatures.

TASTING NOTES
Apparence : Pale yellow with bright green-tinged highlights
Nose: Very intense. At first, fresh notes of blackcurrants, boxwood, peppermint and tarragon dominate.
The nose then evolves towards fruitier notes of lemon followed by exotic fruit such as mango and passionfruit.
Aromas of kiwi fruit are also revealed on a mineral and spicy background (coriander and green pepper)
Palate: First impressions are full-bodied and supple with appetising notes of blackcurrant.
The acidity then progressively rises, echoing the ripe, lemony flavours found on the nose.
Flavours of exotic fruit and mango coulis bring it softness. The finish is long and structured and reveals notes of lime and grapefruit peel.
